TRIAD, created by trumpeter Dominick Farinacci, vibraphonist Christian Tamburr, and accordionist Michael Ward-Bergeman, draws from a wide range of influences and finds common ground in their appreciation for melodic compositions. While rooted in a classical approach, TRIAD infuses its music with various styles from South America, Argentina, Brazil, and New Orleans, presenting them in a fresh and innovative manner. Their repertoire spans from Kurt Weill to Screaming Jay Hawkins to John Mayer, with each song chosen for its melodic content and integrated into the overarching TRIAD concept. The result is a musical journey that tells a story of the world, taking listeners on a captivating ride from beginning to end.
The varied musical backgrounds of TRIAD’s three creators combine to bring together a unique musical experience and perspective. Trumpeter Dominick Farinacci was the first Global Ambassador to Jazz at Lincoln Center, is a Ted speaker, and has been recognized by music legend Quincy Jones, who says, “This kid is 360 degrees!” Christian Tamburr was musical director and composer for Cirque du Soliel and Penn & Teller, has performed with Dave Brubeck, and produces musically inspired events for Google & Cisco. Michael Ward-Bergeman was the arranger for YoYo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble, a soloist with the NY Philharmonic, and has received original work commissions for original work featured at Carnegie Hall.
TRIAD has headlined Jazz at Lincoln Center and Birdland in New York City, Tri-C JazzFest Cleveland, and several other venues since its inception and will present their self-titled debut on Ropedope in 2024. A carefully collected set of tunes covers a broad range of influences, all capturing the fresh sound of the ensemble.
